Antique 18th Century French Beauvais Landscape Verdure Tapestry, with Birds in the Woods

An antique 18th century French Beauvais landscape verdure tapestry, size 12'1 H x 10'1 W. This tapestry features a group of birds in a verdant woodland setting near a bridge, with the birds appearing at center between trees, acanthus plants, and flowers. This handsome tapestry is woven with great precision, simulating what would be a modern day photograph of a traditionally idyllic setting. The central scene is enclosed within a trompe l'oeil (fool the eye) frame style outer border. Hand-woven, composed of wool with silk inlay. Condition is fair to good, with the main body of the tapestry being mostly intact, but with some areas of distress and disconnection, chiefly where the lower border meets the main field. Being sold as is. A lovely piece, and sure to add color, warmth, and sophistication to a home or business location!

Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs.
