Description:

An antique Persian Heriz oriental rug, in room size, size 11'5"H x 7'8"W. This unique oriental rug was hand-knotted by weavers in the northwestern Persian weaving region of Heriz in the first quarter of the twentieth century, approximately circa 1910-1920.  This one-of-a-kind rug features a dynamic central medallion in the red primary field, with lanterns extending from either end, with geometric motifs in the field, and with elegant corner spandrels, all enclosed within a structural navy outer border. Composed of a 100% natural wool pile on a cotton foundation. In very good condition for its age, weaving style, and composition, with even medium-length wool pile throughout, and no significant areas of wear or distress.
