Description:

A Franco-Flemish tapestry, possibly Lille or Aubusson, from the late 17th century, featuring a rustic scene with a group of people singing and playing music within a verdant setting.  Large trees, plants, and flowers appear in the left and right foreground, and a villagescape appears in the distance beyond the grassy hills.  In the upper portion of the tapestry, the sky has the unique visual effect of being gradually darkened, suggesting that either the merry band of revelers has been playing all day into the evening, or alternately all through the night and into the early morning.  Enclosed within a slim architectural border.  Wool with silk inlay.  Excellent condition.

Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs. We now have a large selection of antique tapestry rods available as well, which we can provide detail upon request.
