An antique Persian Ziegler Sultanabad oriental carpet, oversized, size 24'0" x 12'6", circa 1890-1900.  This palatial antique hand-knotted Sultanabad carpet is from the renowned workshop of Ziegler and Company, one of the most famous producers of Persian carpets in the late 19th century, and who were known for combining Western artistry and aesthetics with the master carpet weavings of Persia and the East.  These Ziegler Sultanabad carpets are highly prized and seldom found, and especially so in a carpet of this grand size, age, and condition.  The soft red central field is characterized by a decentralized floral design, and is enclosed within a light blue foliate border, the simplicity of which underscores the dynamism and curvilinearity of the central field's design.  Wool pile on a cotton foundation.  In remarkable condition for its age, size, and weaving style.
