An antique Persian Tabriz carpet, size 12'0" x 9'0", circa 1910.  This hand-knotted wool carpet emanates from the renowned northwestern Persian region of Tabriz. 

The rug is characterized by an elegantly executed central medallion on the open primary field, with the medallion design then being reiterated as corner spandrels in all four corners.  The field is enclosed within a scrolling outer border, and several layers of guard borders.

Wool pile on a cotton foundation.  In very good condition for its age and weaving style.  A one of a kind carpet, and a wonderful example of the finely woven master works that have made the Persian region of Tabriz one of the most renowned rug centers in history!
